    The Ultimate 4WD Brakes

    4000 SERIES BRAKE ROTORS

4000 Series brake rotors are a direct replacement single-piece brake rotor, designed for drivers seeking upgraded performance braking above and beyond standard OE levels. Cast from XG-150 high carbon alloyed iron and undergoing Thermal Stability Profiling (TSP), the rotor’s metallurgy is able to handle the increased stress and heat generated under intense braking applications, time and time again. Featuring our patented Kangaroo Paw ventilation that implements a series of 144 diamond and teardrop patterned pillars, we achieve up to a 30% increase in surface area and 20% improvement in cooling efficiency (as compared to a traditional straight vane design).

    BUILT, NOT BOUGHT

Disc Brakes Australia has over 40 years of experience in designing and manufacturing brake rotors. Whilst a full-range supplier of braking solutions these days, DBA’s engineering and manufacturing capabilities on Australian soil remain the backbone of the business and set it apart from other brands in the market.

    T3 BI-DIRECTIONAL SLOT

The T3 slot design further increases the number of out-gassing exit points on the rotor surface, and assists in the removal of unwanted dust and debris between the rotor and brake pad, which otherwise could cause pad glazing and loss of brake performance. The development of bi-directional slot design eliminates the concern of having opposing left and right designated brake rotors, with DBA T2 and T3 rotors able to be used on either side of your vehicle. The bi-directional slot design also assists in dampening the vibration harmonics (noise), resulting in a quieter, more responsive and smoother brake pedal feel. The T3 slot design is individually CNC machined into each rotor to ensure the highest quality and performance.

    KANGAROO PAW VENTILATION

The ventilation system of a brake rotor is best described as the foundation and support between the friction surfaces. Other than material composition, another major factor that affects the thermal performance of brake rotors is the surface area within the ventilation design. The more surface area, the more heat that can be removed from the brake rotor. The mass of the brake rotor also plays an important role. The greater the mass, the more heat that can be stored and must be dissipated, this is why the design of the Kangaroo Paw is so effective. This minimises the risk of brake fade and restores normal braking much sooner.

    THERMOGRAPHIC HEAT PAINT

DBA’s patented Thermo-Graphic Heat Paint (TGHP) markings are a standard feature on all DBA 4000 and 5000 Series disc rotors. The TGHP paint stripes of Green, Orange and Red will change colour once your DBA brake rotor reaches predetermined critical temperature thresholds. This assists with monitoring peak rotor temperatures and ensure rotors don’t overheat. It also enables the driver to make informed choices in pad selection. The TGHP colour coding is loosely related to DBA’s range of upgrade and performance brake pads. I.e. a change of the green stripe indicates ‘Street Performance’ pads are recommended, a change of the orange stripe indicates ‘Xtreme Performance’ pads, and red corresponds with ‘Race Performance’ – the latter NOT being available for 4WD applications.

    Braking safely this holiday season

When loading up the vehicle for the summer break, DBA’s upgrade brake products can help keeping your family and vehicle safe. We Aussies love our 4WDs and SUVs. So much, that we buy more of them than of any other type of car. No wonder - they allow us to travel in comfort, lug all the gear we need, and are just a great way to go exploring. This is especially true for the holiday season.
